| Howa 1500 30-06, 400 Yards, 1 Shot 1 Miss Howa 1500 30-06, 400 Yards, 1 Shot 1 Miss Looks like the bullet went 6 or so inches left. I had a varying wind from 10:30 to 1:30 at 10mph. It was my fault I missed for 2 reasons. 1) I missed. 2) I should have went back to the house and grabbed cartridges with a bullet more forgiving to the wind conditions. When I took the shot the wind where I was at was from 12:30; as soon as I took it it changed on me. With a more ballistic coefficient bullet the drift would have half as much which would have put me right on the edge of the steel. See, yesterday the wind was constant, all I needed to do is math; today there was math plus guesswork. If I would have gone back and grabbed a 180gr Sierra, the outcome could have been a hit. I’ll take some Sierra 180 sps or Hornady 190 spbts with me next time. I'm really not doing very well this week. I think after I shoot-up these round noses, I'll load-up some Sierra 180gr spire points. I'm mainly using the 220gr RN because they're there. What I should do is, use the 220s for no wind, the 180s for windy up to 400 yards, and the 190s for windy over 400 yards.
